Hi Vinz,

This robber fly is in the genus Stenopogon. Perhaps someone else can add a species name.

Regards, Eric

Thanks

I have a specimen already identified (in this forum) as Stenopogon, which is with the same colors (but I am unable to determine asilids by myself).
Is the red-orange color caracteristic ?

Regards

Vinz,

There are many (100+) species of Stenopogon, in both the E & W Hemisphere. Many are reddish like this one, but others are completely black or with other colors. Stenopogon is unusual in having a round head (when viewed from the front); nearly all other Asilidae have a distinctly broader (wider-than-high) head shape.
