It is Andrey Ozerov in same place (during our trip on boat). It isn't too hot on Pechora (it is about 68 N)

Collecting in tundra isn't easy. Photo abouve shows Culicidae around my head, but there was even worse families - Tabanidae (sorry Stephen), Simulidae and Ceratopogonidae - altougether it has Russian name "gnus". When you work 1 year in such conditions it counts as two year.

last week i have been in Retezat and now (still after a week) all my legs and arm are full of scratches becuse of the bite of simuliids. so staying one year... still skin there ? Wink

I'd hate the midges and other biting things (brrrrr) Sad But I'd love to see more photos of the area - it's rare to see such a place Smile

Nikita won't be in Moscow in winter - he'll be off collecting in Thailand, Senegal, Sochi or Turkey Grin
