Today I found this fly (appr. 7-8 mm) in a small wooded area adjacent to the river Linge at Leerdam, Netherlands. Could anyone tell me more about this fly's identity? Thanks in advance! I've never seen one myself but the name that jumped into my brain was Leskia aurea - see here in the gallery. A lovely tachinid and quite unusual I think ![]() |

Yes of course, it's Tachinidae! Thank you for waking me up, Jorge and Chris ![]() It looks very much like Leskia aurea indeed, I hope someone can confirm. http://slamenietd...web-log.nl |

I live a few kilometers to the east of Leerdam. Last year I found only two species of Tachinidae, because I did not have opportunity to collect outside my garden. These two species were Mintho rufiventris, which I saw during summer every day in or close to the house, and Leskia aurea. The specimen above is Leskia aurea indeed. Liekele |

Thank you for confirmation, Liekele. This was the first time I saw it since I started photographing flies in this area four years ago. I found it in an area I visit at least once a week. After four years I still find new species there. http://slamenietd...web-log.nl |
