Hi, Here comes a little grey and black Tachinid with crossed apical scutellars! The light was not good, so the pics are not as clear as intended, and I cannnot see whether the eyes might be hairy or not. I know these small ones are difficult, but let's have a try. I have to say, if I saw it in the field I would say this is one of the smaller genera of sarcophagids - going by the shiny black genital capsule, thin body, vein-m shape and dusting pattern. It seems to be missing medial marginal bristles on T1+2 too, which would be quite unusual. Any better shots of the scutellum? ![]() |

sarcophagid. but I must say that I thought firstly in Tachinidae! Btter photos to the scutellum would help. Specially lateral and close vies. |

Why do these nasty tiny Sarcophagids mask themselves as Tachinids???![]() This time the bristles looked so convincing! Sorry, no better pics of the scutellum, it was already too dark. The black bottom is untypical for Tachinids indeed... So I have to continue my search for a real Tachinid this size and colour. I won't give up! Thanks for your patience in identifying wrong Tachinids, Sundew |
