Back on 22.04.2008 in the Diptera eggs, pupae forum, I posted an image of a pupa found just below soil level. It did not generate any suggestions but I reared it on (kept it cool and moist!) and it hatched on 24.05.2008, to reveal Merodon equestris - at least I am presuming that is the correct species (form?).

It took several shots before I caught it with wing open during grooming. And I have another shot showing a triangular formation on the hind femur.

Confirmation please.
