I saw this smallish (say 7 mm) fly last saterday (26 April) on dry Calluna heath in central Holland (near Bussum). Not much to go on, but may be flight period and location help to ID it?

When I noticed the fly I thought it rather brownish, but this doesn't show up strongly in the photograph.

Very nice picture of Chaetogena tschorsnigi, a rare Tachinid from the heath, indeed. Note the stalked topcel.

This species was described only a few years ago by Joachim Ziegler, it used to be mixed up with fasciata (it is as fasciata in my separate checklist in Entomologische Berichten, it is correct in the Diptera-checklist for the Netherlands)
