Welcome on this forum. It is indeed a tachinid fly, I think a male of Ernestia puparum.

Thank you Stephane. I was searching as well. I does look a lot like Ernestia puparum. Could it also be Winthemia quadripustulata? |

Cool. This was taken in Sleeuwijk, Noord-Brabant on the edge of the town. It was sitting on a tree in a small park where people walk their dogs. There was also a small area of water closeby. Thank you both for the help! Edited by LakeSide on 19-04-2008 00:45 |

E. puparum is restricted to the southern part of the Netherlands so far. Only very old record north of the mains rivers. So it might be moving north, as many others Theo |
