Hello

My guess is that is a species of Dioctria with a prey.

Hello Christophe,

your pictures show two different specimens of two asilid genera.
The first image is of a male Molobratia teutonus, the second one of a female Dioctria spec..

Oh yes thank you, Danny, I wasn't paying attention!
These pictures were taken at some few centimeters from each other, at the same place.
Is Molobratia a synonymous of ancient genus Dasypogon?

Hello,

the species M. teutonus was placed in Dasypogon a very long time ago, but the genus Molobratia is not synonymous with Dasypogon, which still is a good genus with various species in the mediterranean area.

Greetings, Danny

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
