At first glance it looks like a worn V. hottentotta - which is the only Villa GBIF shows for Italy. But your fly's patagium is white - like in V. modesta or V. cingulata, both not in Italy? Greetings, Eric |

There are not enough black hairs on the sides of tergites 5 and 6 - excludes V. modesta, so it's probably V. cingulata (which should have yellow scales on sternite 2 instead of black ones)..

This Villa should have been gone to a coiffeur before the photoshooting! I see some black scales on sternite 3 but more yellow ones, and generally it looks more like V. hottentotta. Greetings, Eric |

The big difference is the white patagium of your fly.

That’s a nice comparison shot, thanks for sharing it! The venation does look pretty consistent, I can see the resemblance clearly. Do you happen to have any side or dorsal photos of the male too? That might help narrow it down a bit further. |
