This Brachycera was found in a garden outside Stockholm Sweden beginning of August 2025. Is it possible, on the basis of these photos, to say what family it belongs to or even species? Wing about 7-8 mm

It's a male Thereva (Therevidae) - I'll try to ID the species (probably T. nobilitata)

Sharp photos of scutellum (hairs dense and ≈complete yellow?) and hind femora (av-bristles in a straight row?) would help to ID the scarcer T. handlirschi.

Many thanks for your help Eric. I have taken two new photos the first one is on the scutellum. The hair on the scutellum has partly been worn off, but based on the remaining hair on the right side I guess that they are not dense? olep attached the following image:  [234.94Kb] |

Photo of the hind femora. It is a bit difficult to see on the photo, but the two bristles closest to the body are not in line. So based on the previous and two new photos i guess we end up with Thereva nobilitata? olep attached the following image:  [196.87Kb] |

Yes, I think male T. nobilitata is very likely.
