ID possible from this only picture? Short encounter, on hydrangia in our garden (Rheinbach near Bonn/Germany, 210m above sea level, huge forest close by). Educated guess would be welcome. Thanks for trying, Jörg

I guess, it could be a male Conops quadrifasciatus. Scutellum black, lateral silvery stripe on thorax, tongue seems to match. Greetings, Eric Kloeckner |

Looks more like Physocephala to me, possibly Ph. rufipes (male). Greetings, Henrik |
