Hi everyone!

Is this male a Tabanus bovinus?

Tabia pale, eye facets not enlarged (at least by far not as in T. sudeticus), 3rd antennal segment with only blunt tooth and only red at base, abdomen triangles look at least slightly concave, general pattern fits.

Size appeared a bit smaller than T. sudeticus to me, but probably in the range of it.

13.6.2025, Germany, Upper Bavaria, Kohlstatt near Bergen, northern slope of Mt. Hochfelln, about 800 m a.s.l., coordinates 47.77496,12.55472

I'm quite sure: male Tabanus bovinus is correct.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

Wow! That species is told to be nearly extinct in Germany.
Best regards,
Jürgen
