Hello, {Click on the picture to get a better resolution. Click again to come back.} ![]() Pierre Duhem : France : Saint-Sornin : 17600 : 25/04/2025 Altitude : 23 m - Taille : 3-4 mm Réf. : 358541 The black halters make it a Diptera. The picture is on a very young oak leaf (Quercus pubescens) where I saw galls of Macrodiplosis roboris and M. pustularis but I never saw Cecidomyiidae antennas of this form. Does somebody have an idea? Thanks you in advance. Pierre Duhem |

The form of the antennal segments and the colour of the haltere suggest to me that this is Sciaridae, but I would need a clearer picture to be certain.

Tony, Thanks for your proposition. I don't have a better picture, sadly. Pierre Duhem |

The wing belongs to Sciaridae. |

John - I do worry about those Lestremiinae which have a very sciarid-like venation.

The forks of Cu are separate nearly to the base of the wing and the costa is strong about 2/3 of the distance from R4+5 to M. |

No spurs are visible on the tibiae, thus I am rather for Cec.. Lestremiinae. |

Thanks for those pointers, John. The costal extension in Sciaridae is something I've overlooked. Jan - I think the spurs in this case are simply small, ventral and not visible. Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |
