Hello, The fly on the photo looks like some Campyglossa or Paroxyna for me, but I'm not 100% sure. It's been captured last summer (in the end of July) in millet crop (Voronezh region, European Russia). It's body length is about 3-4 mm (without wings). Dioxyna bidentis (Robineau-Desvoidy 1830). Concerning synonymy of Paroxyna: I had restricted it to P. producta Lw. (see Korneyev 1990 (1989), Nasekomye Mongolii, 11). Later, Merz (1994 - Fauna Helvetica) lumped Campiglossa (in the sense of Korneyev 1990), Paroxyna and Whiteina Korneyev 1990 into Campiglossa s.l., which includes now all or almost all Holarctic Paroxyna (see the World Catalog of Tephritidae, Norrbom et al., 1999). See also Opredelitel nasekomykh Dalnego Vostoka Rossii (Keys to Insects of Far East Russia), 2004 for synonymy). Dioxyna Frey, which is superficially similar to Campiglossa s.l., is apparently very distantly related, judging from the most recent DNA analysis.
