Hi all! I've followed the Key to European Families (Oosterbroek 2006) to identify this fly collected in Catalonia (June 2010), but I keep coming up against a dead end. The truth is, the species seems familiar, but I can't find it.
Can anyone help me?
Saludos!
Jorge

Thanks John. However, I don't see any preapical dorsal bristles on any of the tibiae.

Otites sp. cf. maculipennis (Ulidiidae Otitini).
Try to dry it a little to develop the microtrichose silver pattern of thorax and abdomen, just for 10 minutes after 96 EtOH: it matters, but invisible in alcohol
