Have a nice day. One question please. Can anyone help me with this Tephritidae species? I always found them on Onopordum acanthium plants. I would be very grateful for an answer. Kind regards Karl.
Finding data: Austria, Lower Austria, Tattendorf, 220m, semi-dry grass, May 6th, 2024, size: 3-4 mm

Male Tephritis postica? (I don't know, if it flies in Austria)

Hello Eric thank you for the Answer. I found out that this species has already been found in Austria in the Eichkogel nature reserve near Mödling. This is around 10 km away from me. So we can stick with Tephritis cf. postica.

Yes, Austria is apparently the northernmost distribution of T. postica. In Germany, I see only Terellia gynaecochroma on Onopordum.
