I came across several of these small 6-7mm golden bee flies which hovered slowly around me as I walked on a coastal footpath on the north coast of Corfu on 20.5.24. Could these be Systoechus? S. ctenopterus seems to be a widespread, common species which has been recorded in the area, but I doubt I have enough detail of wing veins etc for anyone to be sure.
