Hello, I photographed this fly in Peschio Croce (AQ), Italy, 1460m a.s.l. on October 27th 2024. I think it is a Tachinidae, but is it possible to identify its genus or species based on these photos? I'm pretty sure, it's a female Tachina fera.

Lateral margin of thorax is very orange, looks like T. casta to me. Somehow, we can't see the IA bristles ? Theo |

I couldn't find the ia bristles, too, and excluded T. casta because the 5th tarsomere is not distinctly longer than wide (Ceretti)?

Is that for females ? Anyways, i don't use those types of features in Tachina, they never work. I have never seen a fera with so much orange in thorax, moreover, the parafacial is very hairy ... |

Yes, it's for females: "Femmina: vr/occh = 1,25-1,55; quinto protarsomero chiaramente più lungo che largo...casta" (frons/eye = 1,25-1,55; fifth protarsomere clearly longer than wide) The frons is very wide and it's very orangy - I will no longer look at the Tachina girl's feet!
