Hello, is my determination correct? Or is there some sort of fly, which looks quite similar? Location: Germany, Rhineland-Palatinum, 53572 Unkel, river Rhine valley, Stux hill, dry and warm habitat (grapeyards), nearby deciduous forest (oak, beech ...), May 27th 2023. Gymnosoma is correct, but it's not rotundatum. Not easy from a single photo but I think it could be a male Gymnosoma dolycoridis: a dusted stripe from thorax to the tip of scutellum.

Hello Eric, I have two other photos, but they are not so good; i add them, maybe they are helpful for determination. Michael Stemmer attached the following image: ![]() [111.54Kb] |

I'm not an expert but l think the dusted stripe from scutum to scutellum's tip makes G. dolycoridis. Greetings, Eric Kloeckner |

Hello Eric, so I´ll name this one "Gymnosoma cf. dolycoris", if you don´t contradict. Greetings from the Stux hill, Michael |

Gymnosoma cf. dolycoris is a good idea - and don't forget to add it to the title to attrace the expert. Hopefully a chance to leave the "cf."
