Hi,
This male Exorista is from midwestern Brandenburg, seen on 02 September 2008. It looks rather worn and some bristles are broken. So there are only 3 postsutural dc which would lead to the rustica group (best choice would then be E. mimula) but they are unequally spaced, therefore I suspect that the second one is broken off. In the case of 4 dc, the largely reddish scutellum, bare eyes, yellow-golden parafrontalia, extended dusting of tergites 3 and 4, and ascending setulae of facial ridge not reaching the level of descending frontals would lead to E. larvarum (Red-saddled Exorista is a very fitting vernacular name!) and exclude E. fasciata. How do you see it?
Thanks, Sundew

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
