Hello, I photographed this fly on Mount Greco (AQ), Italy, 2250m a.s.l. on June 15th 2024. I think it is a Tachinidae, but is it possible to identify its genus or species based on these photos? Thank you in advance, Emanuele ESant attached the following image: [291.77Kb] Edited by ESant on 28-09-2024 13:59 |

Exorista? A few Italian species have short hairs on the eyes. |

I was lost, but might actually be a decent idea. Theo |

Thank you both very much! I assume that these photos are not enough to say which species is it, right? |

I tried Ceretti's key and thought the best fit was Exorista decidua(*), which is recorded from France and Spain but not Italy. This is based on the key, not on experience with European Exorista. I don't know what the species looks like. (*) "Occhio con pubescenza rada e più corta", "Superficie dorsolaterale dei tergiti 3, 4 e 5 con pruinosità rispettivamente su 1/2-2/3, circa 1/2 e 1/3-1/2 della loro lunghezza" |
