Hello, In the south of France on September 12, 2024. She was laying eggs in the ground. Length of the body: 12 mm visible to which it is necessary to add a little of the end of the abdomen sunk in the ground. Thank you for your advice on its identification. Hello Liliane, it's one of the Therevidae, could be Thereva unica (bipunctata).

Thanks Eric, This is a new family for me. I read in this document https://home.hccnet.nl/mp.van.veen/therevidae/therevidae.html#Thereva%20unica that it could be Thereva unica (ex bipunctata) or T. oculata. The size I measured would better match the second and I'll look if there are any illustrations available. Do you know this species? |

I'm sorry but I do not know T. oculata and I've never seen a photo of it.

I've only found one illustration of T. oculata and it doesn't look like it. I agree with you that T. unica is the most likely. |
