only about 7 mm, on shrubs next to a large clearing in mixed forest (northwest Germany).

Really ? Except for the size, looks like a straightforward female C. Brassicaria

Thanks, Theo! I hope, some day I will find a different Cylindromyia species... This year I often find very small specimens of insects. For example the last individuals of the common Hypena proboscidalis (Lepidoptera) were only half the size as usual...

Brassicaria is the only central European species with three pairs of marginals on scutellum, basals included.
