Hello Forum,

one more fly from the alder marshland in Hagen (D) 175 m above sea level. This photo was taken on July 31st 2007. The plant in the background shoul be Angelica sylvestris.

The author of this photo is my co-worker Hans-J?rgen Reichling (Hagen, D). The picture was digitally remastered from a paper photo.

I think: Bombylius major? Right? Wrong?

Best wishes

Josef

Hello, Josef!

I think: Bombylius major? Right? Wrong?

Sorry, wrong. This is a Syrphid, Eristalis sp.. Are the front tarsi dark? Then it should be E. tenax (female).

Look here for Bombylius major:

Hello Jorge,

I was convinced to know but I was, once again, too hasty. I must be much more carefully. Thank you your correction.
