Hello,

I photographed this fly in Balaclava, Mauritius, on April 21st 2024. In this case don't know which family it may belong to. Could you please help me to identify its genus or species from these photos?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

This is the genus Discomyza. I believe the only species recorded from Mauritius is Discomyza similis, but that species has black antennae. Your fly looks much more like D. maculipennis, but I suggest that it would be best to check a male specimen to eliminate the possibility of an undescribed species.

Thank you very much Tony! Unfortunately I didn't collect any specimens.
