A very beautiful tiny Chironomid fly on my balcony. May 2, Minas de Riotinto.

I hope something can be said about this beauty.

¡Saludos!

John, it doesn't look exactly like the discription of Goetghebuer (Chironomides de Belgique et spécialmente de la zone de Flandres. Bruselas 1921). Maybe "green" is relative. Grin
But with a bit of flexibility... Smile And the photos in https://www.gbif.org/ don¡'t fit either with this description. Their colour fit my specimen and are very similar, even taking into account that mine is a female and all the specimens on gbif.org males.

Thanks for your extensive knowledge!!! TumbsUp

I don't know how many species of the Tanytarsus signatus species group are in Europe or how variable the individual species are.

Here is a similar American fly: https://bugguide....ew/1974944.

I edited while you were posting your message.

Yes, the female of Bugguide is 'mine', or a sisterspecies. TumbsUp
