Hello everyone,

I found this crane-fly yesterday in the near of a brook in Southwest-Germany in the Black forest. The length was about 30 mm. Is it Tipula vittata, Tipula maxima or anything else?

Thank you and greetings,

Siggi

Hello Siggi, the last image is a bit tricky but from the first two fotos I'm quite sure, it's a male T. vittata. T. maxima's length is 40 mm.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

The one on the last picture is Pedicia rivosa (Pediciidae).

Hi Eric, Walther,

please excuse this embarrassing mistake. I thought all three photos showed the same animal, but I took the third photo a little earlier and of course it shows a different animal. Many thanks for your help. Next time I'll be more careful.

Greetings Siggi

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
