Hello,

can the genus of this hoverfly be determined after these pictures? It looked like a small (8-9 mm) Syrphus, but I am not sure. At a sloe hedge (northwest Germany).

Hi,

Indeed a female Syrphus. I also sometimes find some small females, maybe it has something to do with a cold period during their development?

Best,
Jonne

Could be Parasyrphus malinellus. Frons should be black.
