I try a new post - I found her again in our living room today - so is it Sciapus pallens ? Rheinbach near Bonn, Germany, 210m above sea level, garden close to forest. Thank you for your advice, Jörg PS I took some more pictures with better light this morning and exchange for better visibility. I learned that Sciapus platypterus males also have the "white hairy socks", but they should not have the distinctive abdominal pattern. Correct? On the other hand, our area here in western Germany is not known to be the typical home of S. pallens. So I hope for some clarity. And if it is S. pallens - I cannot find one in the Diptera Gallery. Who decides how what goes in there? Joerg Schneider attached the following image: [191.58Kb] Edited by Joerg Schneider on 01-04-2024 07:15 |
