Caught in a pitfall trap. Spain: Barcelona: Gallecs, 22.vii.2016. Body length (including genitalia): 1,76 mm Body length (without genitalia): 1,57 mm Wing length: 1,17 mm [MENZEL & MOHRIG 2000] m-fork not curved like a bell; m1 and m2 shallowly diverging at the base. basal parts of the antennal flagellum of ♂ equally finely or coarsely hairy. Palpal proximal segment with several bristles. Tibial end of legs 1 with strictly uniseriate row of bristles or spines on a basal ridge. NOT: Tibial ends of legs 2, and/or legs 3, with a reduced spur or absent. BUT Tibial ends of legs 2, and legs 3 with a pair of subequal spurs !! single-row tibial crest of p1 lobus-like to lobed and mostly very narrow; r1 very short, the r1 opening in c strongly approximated to the rs transverse vein; hypopygium compact and often small; anterior tibiae without spines in the basal pubescence. Scatopsciara Edwards, 1927 Stylus compact and shortened, stylus apex broad or narrowly pointed and apically/subapically with a terminal tooth; apical bristles relatively short and light; stylus spines subapical [not in the apical bristles]. Scatopsciara Edwards, 1927 s. str. It could be the undescribed male of S.platyventralis as like the female, it possesses 2 tibial spurs on the mid and hind legs, although the 2 tibial spurs of the mid legs are subequal.
