the eye is hairy and the reclinate orbital is rather strong, so I am thinking Phorinia. Theo |

According to Tachi and Shima (2006), Phorinia "is characterised by the following combination of characters in the tribe Exoristini: facial ridge with strong setae; occiput without rows of black setae behind postocular setae; R4+5 setulose dorsally from base nearly to crossvein r-m; apical scutellar setae erect." |

It is collected as a pupal parasite of Perina nuda (Erebidae: Lymantriinae) |

@ John: you are totally correct, so it is one of the hairy-eyed Exorista species. Based on the photos and the host, it is very likely / almost certainly Exorista sorbillans. Theo |
