Slovakia, Banská Bystrica, Carpathians, patchy landscape (forests, pastures, meadows), 18 august 2023.

The species is not in the Slovakia checklist, however, it has been already published form Slovakia (Marek Semelbauer, , Ján Samay, Jan Zavřel 2023 Diptera species recorded for the first time in Slovakia found alongthe Danube floodplain.)

I keyed it out using Reinoud van der Broek's fieldguide. Is my ID correct?

Thank you in advance

The frontal hairs are white and the front femur is postero-dorsally partly red-brown. This should be cingulatus. (Other characters are not good enough to see.
Greetings, Danny

Thank you Danny,

Apparently, I misinterpreted the key and the character is visible only "from behind".

Greetings, Matej

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
