Hello everyone, I found the fly on February 16, 2024 on a dry meadow in northeastern Bavaria/ Germany. Size about 5mm. Is Anthomyiidae sp. correct? Best regards, Thomas Azuro attached the following image: [61.68Kb] |

The head reminds me of some Phorbia species, but I am not certain.

An acalyptrate. Notice the wing is darkened between Sc and R1, no distinct rows of acrostichal or dorsocentral bristles, incomplete transverse suture, fronto-orbital bristles not of the calyptrate form, no strong bristles on tibiae. |

Compare Earomyia lonchaeoides, an early spring species. |

Thank you, Tony Irwin and John Carr! Earomyia lonchaeoides looks good and the season is right too. Best regards, Thomas |
