Hello, I photographed this fly near Passo San Nicolò (TN), Italy, 2400m a.s.l. on August 3rd 2023. This time I'm not sure of which family it may belong to. Is it possible to identify its genus or species from these photos? Thank you in advance, Emanuele ESant attached the following image: [293.8Kb] Edited by ESant on 30-01-2024 10:47 |

Yes, it looks a bit weird. It is a female Loewia (Tachinidae). Difficult genus. Theo |

Thank you very much! My first guess was Rhinophoridae, but then I remembered that there are also some Tachinidae and Sarcophagidae that can look similar, so I was quite confused. |
