Hi,

It would have been easier to have the specimens each in their own separate post, that way determinations will not run through each other. Bur for your ID's, it will be quite hard I think, especially as you will need to check very minute details like colour of bristles.

Furthermore I am by no means an expert but I will give it my best; upper left and bottom right are Villa spp. The quality of the photo and specimens is not good enough to attribute any species I'm afraid.

Bottom left is something near Bombylius. A terrible genus if you ask me and I think very difficult in Southern Europe as a lot of distributions are not really known (and let's ignore species statuses).

Upper right is a worn Hemipenthes velutina I think. Do you have access to the Diptera checklist of Bulgaria? Maybe the species in the checklist can help although I don't expect the checklist to be complete. Hubenov, Z. (2021). Species composition and distribution of the dipterans (Insecta: Diptera) in Bulgaria. Advanced Books. doi:10.3897/ab.e68616

Best,
Jonne

Hi Jonne, thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, I know that my specimens are Villa, Bombylius, and Hemipenthes. And Yes, my pictures is not good. And yes, I have the checklist of Hubenov. It contains lot of species. But I am afraid I cannot find any identification key and I had no succes with finding of any expert on thus group in SE Europe. If you cannot help me to get any key(s), I am afraid my specimens cannot get appropriate names...
But thank you again!
