Hello everyone,

I took these pictures on August 9th, 21 in southwest Germany in the Black Forest. I think this is a male of Villa cingulata. Is that right?

Greetings Siggi

Hello Siggi, I think V. cingulata is correct - but for me the frons points to a female.

Hi Eric,

thank you very much for your confirmation. I have information that a white tegulae is an indication of a male. But I have no experience and of course I believe you that it is a female.

Greetings Siggi

Hi Siggi, with Villa, I use the width of the frons to decide whether female or male. Female's frons is distinctly wider than the ocelli while the male's frons is very close to th ocelli. But it's not easy to see if you cannot compare both. Better leave it as V. cingulata.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

Hi Eric,

thank you for that information. Then I will name the picture only Villa cingulata.

Greetings Siggi
