Hello, Yesterday morning I found this fly on the lid of my rain barrel and put it on a leaf to photograph it. Can the species be determined from the picture? Size of the fly was maybe 6-7 mm? Click on the picture to enlarge it. Germany, Saarland, Bexbach, Garden, Absolute Altitude 250 m, 13.10.2023 Greetings, Volker Edited by Volker on 14-10-2023 08:37 |

Probably Tephrochlamys flavipes. Cross-veins and basal subcostal cell area are darkened.

Hi Andrzej, Thank you very much for your assessment. Tephrochlamys flavipes was also my first guess. Jürgen Peters had already given me the hint for the genus and after researching on the internet Tephrochlamys flavipes looked most similar to my animal. Greetings, Volker |
