Hello !

I photographed this Asilidae near Lyon, south-east of France on May 25, 2022.
I did not measured it, but it was pretty big, maybe 20 mm or more.
I was directed to genus Dysmachus, more precisely to Dysmachus fuscipennis, but a doubt remains with D. hamatulus.

What do you think?

Hello, D. fuscipennis. Hamulatus has a bit different hypopygium, I attach Engel’s draw:
In the end of the epandrium you see a notch. In this notch’s lower part, there’s a protruding thing. It is much shorter in hamulatus and much longer in fuscipennis, as in your picture.
