Hello,
In the south of France on May 24, 2023.
Body length 20 mm. Laa 20 mm.
I think it's a Tipula. Can you confirm and can we get to the species?
Thank you for your advice.

Thanks a lot Roger,
I looked at the link you give and I read "white band that extends across the full width of the wing" but here the white band doesn't go the full width.
I've read that very short ovipositors are also found on Tipula truncata and mellea. Could it be T. truncata like here https://alciphron.habiprot.org.rs/listing-147190-tipula-truncata? I could only find this illustration. And I haven't found an illustration of T. mellea.

Hi Liliane, I reckon I reckoned wrong [not unusual for me Wink] That does look a lot like the T.truncata from your link...

But it's thanks to the link you gave that I was able to look Wink
I found the 1924 Faune de France by C. Pierre: https://faunedefrance.org/bibliotheque/docs/PIERRE(FdeFr08)Dipt.Tipulidae.pdf
It says that the thorax has dark banded lines, an abdomen with brown dorsal and costal bands and the prestigmata lunula covering the discoidal.
Photo illustrations are limited to the link I gave, but C. Pierre's description seems to match.
