Hello, In the south of France on 18 April 2023. Body length: 7 mm. Total length to wing tips 8.3 mm. I thought Xylota but the light hairy bands on the abdomen and the very transparent wings make me doubt. The antennae do not remind me of Xylota.

Maybe Eumerus? NOt sure but reminds me of that. |

Thank you very much Dave, That sounds like an excellent suggestion. I had not heard of the Eumerus before and I am very happy to have met one. I see that there are many species and I don't know what makes them different. With the spaced eyes, I assume it is a female? |

Either Eumerus funeralis or striagatus (female). You can see the differences well described on Steven Falk's Flickr-pages. |

Thank you very much, Steven Falk's photos and descriptions are very accurate. In my one photo I am not sure I can see the distinguishing criteria. I note that the identification is between the two species. |
