Hello,

I found this 10-12 mm fly yesterday at 5 °C sunbathing at the forest border (northwest Germany).

Could it be Cheilosia grossa? That would be a new species for me...

Hi,

Looks to me as grossa, hairy eyes, overall color of pilosity, black antennae and of course the early flight period. Congrats with your +1!
