Using Collin's 1961 Empididae, I've keyed a fly to Rhamphomyia tibialis. It was a pretty good fit, with a small tuft of bristles in the right place on the side lamellae, and tergites 5-7 almost bare. But Collin describes the aedeagus of this species as "fairly stout", which doesn't fit my specimen. Can anyone tell from my sketch if it matches tibialis, please? Hi John, Your sketch most probably belongs to R. tibialis. But if you would like to be completely sure I could send you a picture of the genitalia of this species where you will find entire phallus. Send me your email. All the best, Igor |
