If those are hairs on the eyes, I agree.

Hello,
thank you for your mind. Here i am not absolutely shure about the hairy eyes. If no hairs is it S. vitripennis?

If no hairs: ribesii or vitripennis.
But there seem to be hairs on it, with some imagination Smile

Hello,

I see no hairs at all. The male of Syrphus torvus have mostly dense hairs, that should be seen on the picture. For me it is more probably, that it is S. ribesii or vitripennis.

Hello Gisela,

perhaps some dust on the eyes. Thanks for your mind.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
