Hello,

I'm not sure, to which family this 5 mm fly (at fruit bait in our courtyard, northwest Germany) belongs. Sphaeroceridae?

I'm more inclined to say Chloropidae, (but it's tricky with featureless species!)

Thank you, Jan and Tony!

I was also considering these two families, but was not sure about others with tiny small species, I possibly did not have in mind.

My best wishes for the new year!
Best regards,
Jürgen

Chloropidae, Oscinellinae, Oscinella spec., probably O. nigerrima (Macquart, 1835) or O. frit (L., 1758), see many other posts. Surely the fly was smaller than 5mm.
