Would it be possible to identify this Pangonius?
Photographed near Khenifra, Middle Atlas, Morocco on 3 June 2022. Altitude 1150 meters.
Thank you in advance!
Best wishes,
Johan van 't Bosch

Hi Johan,

Very, very nice indeed, this is what we'd hoped for and not a Pangonius, but an Ectinocerella ! An north African endemic genus.
Three species have been described: coreussi, surcoufi and villeneuvei. The status of these species is unclear, given the paucity of material. Especially villeneuvei is not beyond reasonable doubt.
Your female agrees totally with E. surcoufi, as does the female in my collection.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
