I am looking for places nearer Greece than England, and perhaps cheaper than England to buy pins and plastazote for lining store boxes from. I wondered whether it might be useful to have a page of links to such suppliers.Smile

Many years ago I bought some pins from Entomoravia (http://web.teleco...p_engl.htm). Back then they had very affordable prices and good service. Not quite around the corner from Greeze, but closer (and probably cheaper) than England Smile

I've never used them but EntoSphinx (http://www.entosp...) in the Czech Republic have always looked good. Smile

Thanks for the replies. I found several suppliers in the Cheque Republic when I did a google search. It has all become a bit more difficult as I have learned that the Management Authority for the wetland are not allowed to buy equipment outside of Greece, the fact that it is European money they are spending is irrelevent apparently. Nobody in Greece is selling entomological equipment, so I guess I am still self-funding.

Hi David,
Actually I thought of that but I am a negative economic situation at the moment, as, although I was asked to return from Thailand and continue the work I had been doing here in GreeceSad on a paid basis I do not yet have a job contract or any money, and I came back 11 months and 2 days ago, currently I am borrowing money to eat, so setting up a business is out of the question.

I wonder if some creative substitution might not be the answer? For instance, good quality fine lace pins (Greece still has a handmade lace cottage industry) and a camping bed roll (I think Kahis uses old exercise mat/bed roll on occasions, and they are plastazote). I have a contact (not an entomologist) who has a house in Corfu. I will email her and see if she has any ideas.

I have used old camping mat before, and it is OK, but not perfect. However it looks like the direction to go at the moment, but it is hard to get one in white.

The pin problem is solved, it is only the plastazote I am looking for, a local carpenter is making 15 store boxes based on the design of the W&D ones I already have and I need something to line them with. Polystyrene is no good if the boxes are stodd up, or have anything in the lids which these will have.Angry

hi Gordon,

I have not yet received your sample of beetle. anyway i will write you an email about this.
About to be dealer for entomological pins and so on. My advice is to talk with Petr Kabatek http://www.kabatek.cz/ . I think he will be interested to have a dealer there in Greece. And based on this even to make some discount.
He's a very nice person and always asked me to pay for the pins only after i have receive them.

maybe this helps you,
cosmln

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
