This type of Tabanid was very common in this area. I found this one in a swimming pool. Using the manual of central american Diptera I key this to the genus Tabanus. Could that be correct? Is it possible to identify it to species level? 23 July 2022, La Crucecita, Oaxaca, Mexico. Thanks for any reply, Paul |

Thank you. If I take the other lead in the key with the basicosta, then I end up with Stenotabanus. See attached a picture of the base of the wing and a picture of the frons: |
