Hello,
On the 29th of May I found this orange fly on the banks of the Zschopau, Saxony, Germany. What is it?

Thank you in advance
Greetings

Here we have the same problems with picture quality as in your other "orange fly" thread. This is a Psila (Psilidae), probably P. fimetaria. To exclude P. merdaria we have to see if there is a dark spot on the outside of the 3rd antennal segment just below the arista. That spot is lacking in P. merdaria. So let's say P. cf. fimetaria.
Regards, Sundew

I agree, Psila fimetaria, see https://micropezi...my/term/83
Quite a number of photographs of these pass through iNaturalist at https://www.inatu...tanypezids many of them are tough!

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
