This melancholic-looking mosquito recently sat in the stairwell of our house in south-west Germany (20 km west of Stuttgart). Could it be Aedes japonicus? Many thanks for helpful hints,
Sundew

Good morning Sundew, no doubt - it's A. japonicus.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

Many thanks, Eric! Meanwhile I found the nice mosquito key by Lindström et al. (https://www.resea...pecies.pdf) and am fully convinced I got the right species.
Best wishes, Sundew
