Yesterday, 2022-04-27, I picutred this specimen which seems to be a Syrphidae of the genus Cheilosia, but can we ID it up to the species ?
It seems to be a male ?

Hi, I don't think it's a Cheilosia as these have a distinct protruding face. It should be one of the Pipizini. Do you have more photos (wings, abdomen)?

Eric, it seems you are once more right !
Found this link about Pipizini : http://cdussaix.f...istome.htm !!
It seems it could be some Heringia ?
InBelgium, I see we have H. heringi and H. senilis , but the last one seems to be rare !

Yes, Heringia looks good - but I don't dare to name the species.

Hi Éric,
On observations.be, expert proposed Neocnemodon sp !

« Heringia a été divisé en Heringia et Neocnemodon. Comme les antennes sont assez courtes et le coxa 3 semble d'avoir in reglement qui manque chez Heringia s.s.
Pour aller plus loin il faut avoir plus de détails des deux premières pattes.

Bien à vous

Wout »

Thanks for the info - I didn't recognize the subdivision Heringia/Neocnemodon yet.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner
